Braving Fate by Linsey Hall‏

Linsey Hall is the author of the Mythean Arcana, a sexy paranormal romance series. Before becoming a romance novelist, Linsey was an underwater archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). Her books draw upon her love of history, travel, and the paranormal elements that she can't help but include.

Several of her books may or may not feature her cats.

As chaos looms, a warrior queen is reborn

Bookish academic Diana Laughton has been having terrible dreams. Dreams of battle, dreams of blood... dreams so vivid she's living them day and night. When demons invade her quiet life, she wonders if she's going mad. Or if perhaps she's remembering a past life she had no idea existed...

In the midst of betrayal, he must protect her

Mythean Guardian Cadan Trinovante loved and betrayed Britain's warrior queen Boudica two millennia ago. Now he's tasked with protecting mortals whose lives affect the fate of humanity. His latest assignment is Boudica herself, reincarnated as a woman with no idea of her past or her fated future. Though in the irresistible form of Diana Laughton, it's possible Cadan has once again met his match...

To succumb to seduction could prove fatal

Thrown together in a shadowy world that exists alongside our own, Diana and Cadan must fight not only the demonic forces that want Diana dead, but a past and a passion that have lasted centuries. Their desire could be deadly. But as evil from the underworld unites against them, their only hope could be each other.

Hi! Thank you so much for having me on your blog! Here are my answers! Have a great day!
Linsey Hall

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I was an archaeologist before I was a writer, so I’ve always loved history. At the time I started writing this story, I was living and working in England (looking for shipwrecks in Plymouth sound). I’d always loved the story of Britain’s Celtic warrior queen Boudica, but it wasn’t until I lived there that I finally wanted to write her story. She’s the heroine of the first book in the series, Braving Fate. Her hero, Cadan, is also a Celt, and both of them find themselves in present day Scotland where the story is set. Edinburgh is my favorite city, so it was only natural to star the series there. There’s just something so magical about it.

Once I’d written that book, I just loved it so much that I wrote two more in the world I’d created. Both of those books feature characters who appeared in book one, so they were part of that inspiration

Q) How long did it take you to write?
The first book, Braving Fate, took me about two years to write because I was working full time. It also went through many phases of editing to make sure it was as perfect as possible. The next two books, Soulceress and Rogue Soul, which released at the same time as Braving Fate, took about 4-6 months each because I was able to write full time. Also, I was more familiar with the world that I had created, which sped up the process.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Getting to create a world and stories that are exciting and fun and make people happy. I can count on romances novels to make me happy when I’m down or just be a bit of fun. I love the idea of writing stories that do that for other people. Also, it’s just super fun to make up stories and see where they go.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Revisions. They are totally necessary, but they can be really difficult to make. There are often a lot of loose threads to tie up, and that can be really tough.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
This is so hard, but I’m going to have to say Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Maybe it’s a silly answer (“I want to be a princess!”) and that if I thought of it for longer, I could probably pick someone that made me look way more intelligent – but I just really want to know what her life is like. It’s got to be crazy, joining the royal family. Alternately, if we’re talking historical person, probably Boudica, the Celtic warrior queen who is the heroine of my first book (in her reincarnated form of a modern-day history professor).

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it? I don’t even want to know. You can’t make me look!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Well, books 1, 2, and 3 in the Mythean Arcana are out now. Book 4 in the series, Stolen Fate, will come out on December 8th. I love the world that I’ve created and will continue writing in it. I’ve already got 4 books on the schedule for 2015, so those should be coming out about 3-4 months apart (which might push one of those books into 2016). Also, you can expect me to be hanging out on Facebook and Twitter and posting pictures of my cats (it’s a sickness – I can’t seem to stop:-).
