A prince from the Nyth Uchel mountains … a healer from the Oshtech desert …

Scornfully rejected by her desert lover and uncertain of her place in the world, Adonia traveled a perilous road to the fabled mountain-city of Nyth Uchel. She came to heal the sick and dying, but in the arms of highborn prince, Hel, Adonia found the answer to saving herself.

Descended from nobility, once great kings of Verdantia, Hel willingly bore the burden of his dying city and its people on his shoulders. Watching helplessly as a malingering evil attacked the very soil under his feet, he crushed his pride to summon help. He’d been staggered to discover the answer to saving his city and perhaps all Verdantia might lie behind a heavy fall of chocolate hair and shy brown eyes.

As their entire planet faces an encroaching black death, two seemingly disparate individuals forge a partnership of love and sacrifice that will alter their future forever. All of Verdantia will be tested.

Stand alone. Not a cliff-hanger. HEA 360 pages. M/F, Mild D/s themes, light spanking, and an over-sexed but sensitive prince with a hero complex.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
My husband and I were vacationing in Yellowstone National Park. During one of our conversations about how incredible the park was and how hardy and brave the original settlers must have been, he suggested I make one of my heroes a “mountain man.” Of course, I deal with a futuristic world, so I took some liberties, but my hero and the setting in Hers To Claim, was born from my husband’s suggestion that I use a “Grizzly Adams” type for my next book.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Eight months. Of course, this was interrupted with some of life’s “events” – LOL. I had a brief hospital stay in the middle of writing, which delayed progress by several months.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love the people that it brings me into contact with—my readers, my critique partners—whoever loves a good story. Sharing our thoughts about stories and concepts invigorates my writing and they are just good folks.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
MARKETING!!! LOL I suck at it. I think I would happily stay holed up in my office typing away until I turned into dust. But, my publisher would have problems with that.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I know this sounds terribly self-serving and as if I am ducking the question, but I would not ever want to be famous, and I feel sorry for those who are. I cherish my privacy and am too selfish to want to have to answer to the demands that fame and fortune place on you. The simple fact that someone IS famous is enough to make me never want to be them.

I remember when a well-known person came into the office where I was working (this was some years ago). The entire office clustered around this individual asking for autographs, etc. You know where I was? Walking out the door, embarrassed for the people in my office and feeling like someone should apologize to him for their behavior. I sound like a complete ass don’t I? LOL Oh, well.

I suppose I would love to have the talents of a famous musician or writer…but I would NOT want the fame that attended.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
HA!!! I just cleaned out my refrigerator, so the oldest thing in it is some white chedar cheese from Wisconsin that purports to be 10 years old. After that it is a leek that has sat in the veggie drawer for a couple of days.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I hope to finish Hers To Claim by the end of the year and in the meantime will have a couple of short stories that I’ll be offering to my email subscribers for free. One will deal with two characters from Hers To Cherish, Ramsey and Steffania, and another story will be about a young woman who has joined the Verdantian diplomatic corps, entitled, “Darla and the Xerion.”
