Son of Dragons by Andrea Cooper‏

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Andrea has always created characters and stories. But it wasn't until she was in her late twenties that she started writing novels.

What happened that ignited the writing flame in her fingers? Divorced, and disillusioned by love songs and stories. They exaggerate. She thought. Love and Romance are not like that in the real world. Then she met her husband and realized, yes love and romance are exactly like the songs and stories say. She is now a happy wife, and a mom to three kids (two boys and a girl).

Andrea writes paranormal and historical romance. When not writing or reading, one may find Andrea dancing in Zumba.

She believes in the power of change and counting each moment as a blessing. But most importantly, she believes in love.

Books in the Legends of Oblivion Series
The Garnet Dagger – Book 1
Cursed in Shadow – Book 1.5
Son of Dragons – Book 2

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Since Son of Dragons is Book 2 of the Legends of Oblivion series, I’ll first have to backrack a bit. After I wrote the first book The Garnet Dagger, I knew the story wasn’t finished. This first book was inspired by seeing the movie Underworld in the theaters. I thought if there can be (*spoiler alert) a vampire/werewolf hybrid, what if a vampire bit a creature of magic – an Elvin?

For Son of Dragons, the first book in the series and the idea of family secrets inspired me. What if a family hid their secret from their offspring – and what if it was being a dragon shifter. How would someone like that shift if they never knew they could or how?

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Son of Dragons, so far, has been the quickest first draft I have ever written. I finished it in less than three months and that was working full-time and having joint custody of my first son.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love discovering the story as I go. I am a panster, because I cannot stand outlines. When I write a story I have the main characters in mind, a few snatches of dialogue, and a rough idea of the ending –- but other than that, I’m experiencing the story as I write it.

Characters are always surprising me with dialogue, reveals, and new plot-twists.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
My least favorite thing about writing is marketing. I am a shy person and it is hard to try and ‘sell’ myself. I never did well in sales growing up – I was the one who only sold a few cookie tins in band while my peers had pages full of orders. I would rather talk one-on-one with someone or a small group of people than shouting on a street corner.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Excellent question. Hmmm…maybe J.K. Rowling and I would write a fabulous letter of Andrea R. Cooper’s work, and then I would travel to as much of the world as I could in the day.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Wait, let me go look … I found some withered lettuce in the bottom of a drawer, but it doesn’t have an expiration date. I’m pretty sure it’s the oldest thing in here as pathetic as it looks J

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Lots! Here’s a list of what I’m working on now (yes, I like to have several things going on at once because multitasking makes my writers’ block run screaming) :

War of Darkness Book 3 Legends of Oblivion – re-writing
Untitled Viking Fire sequel - writing
YA Fantasy – writing
Stolen Hearts a contemporary romance – editing and rewriting the first two chapters
Cheyenne Storm and Cheyenne Gold two historical and paranormal romances – editing and rewriting the first chapter of Cheyenne Storm.
Short story romances – I plan to write 2-3 more short stories along with several other authors for an anthology. Our first one is Six Shades of Romance.

After the Silence – Bree by Jacqueline Paige‏

Jacqueline Paige lives in Ontario in a small town that’s part of the popular Georgian Triangle area. No one has ever heard of Stayner, so she usually tells people she lives “near Collingwood” and no, she doesn’t ski at Blue Mountain or at all, in fact she’s not even fond of snow.

She began her writing career in 2006 and since her first published works in 2009 she hasn’t stopped. Jacqueline describes her writing as “all things paranormal”, which she has proven is her niche with stories of witches, ghosts, physics and shifters now on the shelves.

When Jacqueline isn’t working at her ‘reality job’ or lost in her writing she spends time with her five children, most of whom are finally able to look after her instead of the other way around. Together they do random road trips, that usually end up with them lost, shopping trips where they push every button in the toy aisle, hiking when there’s enough time to escape and bizarre things like creating new daring recipes in the kitchen. She’s a grandmother to four (so far) and looks forward to corrupting many more in the years to come.

Jacqueline loves to hear from her readers, you can find her at www.jacqpaige.webs.com , www.jacqpaige.blogspot.ca or http://magicseasonsbooks.blogspot.ca

When the Mother Nature decides she’s had enough and begins to fight back, survival takes on a whole new meaning. If the earth is the enemy – there are no rules and all you can do is try to survive the odds.

Those the planet allowed to live still have to survive the trials of the virus. If you manage to come out of it alive you are left with some form of mutation that could give you an ability that could be harmless or lethal.

Bree Taylor is the last survivor of her family. With no other choice she sets off on her own to escape the clutches of the new government’s army—that does not place safety and security in their code of behavior only the highest bidder get their protection and loyalty.

Living in a world of unstable climate changes becomes a journey she won’t soon forget. She has to be prepared for anything at all times out in the new country and has to be wary of every person she meets. All while staying out of the path of the new army.

This is a 4 part serial story releasing from June - September.
Release Date for part 1 is June 18, part 2 releases July 18th
The entire volume will be released in January 2015 as one book.
http://www.firstrealmpublishing.com/

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I don’t know if any one thing inspired After the Silence. I wanted to write a story about a young woman surviving obstacles life can throw at you—of course I threw a lot at Bree in her story.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I came up with the idea in 2010, by February 2011 I was well into it and had it finished by June. Of course I spent the next 6, 7 months tweaking it.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I get to pick the ending! Actually, I don’t my characters decide more than I do. Very rarely does a plot follow my ideas. So I guess my favorite thing is that I get to see where a story’s going and where I can take it.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?

I don’t even have to think about this one – writing a synopsis. Asking the writer to summarize their 200-300 page labor of love in 2-5 pages (or less!!) it’s torture.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Honestly I don’t know if I’d want to be a famous person. I like my quiet (well, as quiet as the mother of five can have) and privacy and don’t think I’d want to sacrifice that for fame.

That and any people I thought of are actually deceased- so all I’d get to be in that case is … deceased.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Lemon Juice. I honestly don’t know how old it is. I had to buy a huge bottle of it to make lemon delight and of course it’s just one of those things that don’t have many every day uses. Anyone know a use for it??

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I have a lot going on right now. I’m working on volume 2 for After the Silence. I didn’t intend for it to be a series, but after writing Bree’s story I realized that Kane needed to tell his tale. I believe the first part of Kane will be out in Novemeber.

I also have the first in a new trilogy coming out shortly (I haven’t been given the date yet) The Witch Within is the first in the Ancestor’s Enchantment Trilogy.

Book 2 in the Animal Trilogy – Scent will be out this year as well. Again I don’t have the date yet.

There’s more but I don’t want to go on and on about it.

Thanks for having me here today!!

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
MSNBC aired a program about a doctor in Chicago who lost his license due to drug abuse. In order to make money, he started to traffic parts from dead people to donor patients.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Three months is usually the norm for me.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
The adventure, of course. Sometimes I have an idea where the story I’m writing is going, but once and a while I get derailed. The story takes a lot of twist and turns.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The solitude is great, but when you’re unsure about something then it’s a problem.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Good question! It’s a tossup between Audrey Hepburn, Marie Antoinette way before the beheading, and Angela Davis—she looked really hot in the 70s and that’s hard to do.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I throw stuff out all the time, so maybe the creamer and that’s good until forever.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
There’s nothing on the schedule, so it will be a surprise to me as well.

An avid reader herself, Melissa finally decided to stop “watching from the sidelines” and to do what is her passion.

“I was driving home from work when inspiration struck, and a storyline started unravelling in my head. For a few days, it was all I could think about and eventually I realised that the only way to get it out of my head, was to put it all down on paper. I started writing, and that was that.”

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I had the idea about a year ago, but I had to put it on the back burner for a few months as I had other writing commitments that required my attention. When I finally started, I was thrilled with the result - the story came together exactly as I had imagined.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Six months.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Positive feedback, and connecting with people such as yourself. I also love helping aspiring authors and sharing tips and ideas with others. Of course, there is nothing that beats a good review, it’s the ultimate high for any writer.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The physiotherapy bills! Writing takes its toll on your body, and your eyesight. Wrist, neck and back pain is a common problem, as are headaches from spending too many hours looking at the screen. It’s a small price to pay though, for doing what you love.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Ian Somerhalder’s love interest – I don’t care who she is, or whether she’s famous.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I had to check! A jar of pickled onions that had expired. I threw them out, thanks for the heads up!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Lots! My publisher is re-releasing The Legacy Series in July 2014, and the final book in Jan/Feb 2015. In the meantime, I hope to release The Traveler sequel late 2014 and am concurrently working on a new fantasy series.

But he neither wanted nor asked to be wounded in an ambush, waking up chained to a bed with a hole in his chest. Unfortunately, he needs help to discover who tried to kill him. But worse than that, his only ally is his captor, someone unaware she has the power to destroy their entire world.

As a prophesized war brews in the Heights, Addison and Rhyse must decide which carries more risk—trusting someone who could destroy you or trusting someone who could love you?

A common question writers get asked is, “Do you listen to music while you write?” And the answer is, yes, quite a lot of us do. Some writers can’t listen to music with lyrics. Other writers have to listen to lyrics that remind them of their books. Some, myself included, like to put together playlists that serve as a kind of movie soundtrack to the scenes I’m writing. These are the top 5 songs I chose for the Boss series, and why:

The Boss:

1. “Will Do,” TV On The Radio. This song is specifically mentioned in a steamy scene at the W hotel. The first line of this song, “It might be impractical to seek out a new romance” caught my ear and I thought, “Well, that sums up this relationship perfectly, doesn’t it?”

2. “Leisure Suite” Feist. Sophie set the chorus of this song as Neil’s ringtone, due to the sexy, campy feel.

3. “Sail Away (Rae and Christian Remix),” David Gray. Some songs I put on the list just because they sounded so hot. This was one of those songs.

4. “Riversong,” A Fine Frenzy. I listened to this one over and over while writing a pivotal moment in Neil and Sophie’s relationship. The lyrics weren’t what touched me about this song so much as the tempo.

5. “I Feel Better,” Gotye. This could be Neil Elwood’s theme song with regards to Sophie. While the book is written in Sophie’s first-person point of view, it was important for me to remember what was going through Neil’s head, too, and this song helped remind me

The Girlfriend

1. “Fljótavík,” Sigur Ros. This song comforts Sophie in a rough time. The lyrics are so sad and hopeful at the same time. I used to cry listening to this and writing!

2. “Slow and Steady,” Of Monsters and Men. I tried to incorporate more Icelandic stuff into this book, since Neil spent his late childhood and teen years there. I like to imagine he would keep up on the music scene there. This song called such a strong image to my mind of both Sophie and Neil trying to hold things together for themselves externally while being unsure and overwhelmed inside.

3. “Overjoyed,” Bastille. A lot of th music I picked for this book had a little bit of melancholy to them. Love through fear and sadness is the theme of this book, and this song got that vibe across perfectly.

4. “Only You” Ellie Goulding. The Girlfriend isn’t all doom and gloom. It’s hard to shift from complex emotional content to scorching hot sex scenes and make it fit well. Since this song has both bases covered, I used it for a lot of inspiration.

5. “Learnalilgivinanlovin,” Gotye. When I think of this song, I think of Sophie and Emma trying to forge a kind of friendly relationship in an extremely weird situation. While the lyrics don’t necessarily fit perfectly, the theme sure does!

The Bride

1. “Let Her Go,” Passenger. This is so, so Sophie and Holli’s song. Sometimes, we take the people we love most for granted. I hated writing about forty percent of this book because of that, but I love the way it ended. I’m the biggest fan of Sophie and Holli’s friendship.

2. “Elephant,” Tame Impala. The only reason this makes the list is because my husband and I were listening to it in the car and he said, “This seems like a song Neil would have on his iPod.” Damned if he wasn’t right!

3. “The Story,” Brandi Carlile. Family is the theme of The Bride. This song perfectly paints the emotions I was trying to get across. Shared history, if the good outweighs the bad, is what builds a family. I’m really proud of the little family growing together in this series. With a ton of kink at the core of the storyline, who would have thought?

4. “Birthday,” Katy Perry. I have a suspicion that Sophie danced around to this song many times in anticipation of Neil’s surprise birthday party.

5. “S-S-S-Single Bed,” F.O.X. It’s so fun to write about a couple who can be sexy, yet irreverent about sex at the same time. Playful music helps keep that attitude in perspective.

Working to music really helps the writing pass faster, but full disclosure? I sometimes spent more time finding songs than writing the book!

Powerful modern warlock Quinn Fairmont found ecstasy with the silver-eyed and not-quite-human Cade Mairston, but to know true happiness the pair must best both the shadow of a long-ago lover and an ancient enemy who seeks to destroy love, light and all they hold dear.

A BLINDING LIGHT

It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston.

Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks. Could it be one of his own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men…and whether it seeks to love or destroy.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I love the occult, witches and witchcraft and the local legends and stories about the Witchfinder General of Essex, Matthew Hopkins. So combining them all together in one story together set in the wonderful city of London was a no brainer. I created Quinn, Cade and Taliesin to tell this story and bring these characters and events to life.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Probably about eight weeks. Once I start I am very focused and I simply make it a my mission to finish.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Being able to create characters who bring out my own fantasies, who live a life perhaps I’d like to read and best of all, letting them find love and get their happy ever after. That doesn’t happen all that often in real life.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
I don’t really have a least favourite part. I love the writing, the planning, the plotting (the little I do) , the research and the fun in making a story out of a few imaginative ideas.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I’d like to be Richard Branson, the Virgin man. He seems to have such a wonderful lifestyle, adventurous and varied, he owns his own tropical island, a magnificent plane and a yacht and yet seems to be so down to earth. I could live that life for a day and travel in his footsteps.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I have a lettuce that has seen better days. Probably about ten days old. I’m one of those people who try and buy healthy vegetables with all good intentions even though I’m not partial to salad greens then the poor thing languishes in the fridge until it is thrown away.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I’m writing a series at the moment called Men in London and that will keep me busy for the forseeable future. By the time this blog post runs I should have finished writing book 1. It’s the story of different men in different professions meeting each other, and is all set around a trendy city restaurant called Galileo’s owned by Gideon Trent. Book 1 is Gideon and Eddie’s story.

Up and coming novelist sensation, McKayla never could have imagined that the medieval Scottish Highlands she wrote about were anything more than pure historical fiction. But little did she know that her Broun ancestry would prove an irresistible pull for one very remarkable highlander.

Colin MacLomain, skilled assassin and fierce warrior, is ready to make right his jaded past. Newly seated as chieftain, he's determined to win over his clan and one true love. But when she's pulled back in time will McKayla, his unknowing best friend, be able to see past his shaded history to the man he's determined to become?

Find out in Mark of the Highlander.

Coming soon - Vow of the Highlander (Book 2) and Wrath of the Highlander (Book 3)

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Interestingly enough, my readers inspired the continuation of The MacLomain Series. They wanted to know what happened to the characters afterwards so I decided to create The Next Generation and follow the children born of all the original couples. So while we meet many new characters in this five book series, several characters from both The MacLomain Series- Early Years and the original MacLomain Series make guest appearances.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
Mark of the Highlander took about two and a half months to write.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I would have to say getting into that infamous writing zone. There’s nothing quite like leaving this reality behind to enter the world I’m creating.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Editing! I find it a tedious, tiresome process and thank God for gifting others with the talent to do it for a living.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Hmm, the idea of being a famous person for a day is a little scary. Watch out for that Paparazzi! Seriously though, I’d want to be someone funny. I ADORE Melissa McCarthy (comedian from Mike & Molly and several movies). She just seems like an awesome person so it’d be interesting to walk in her shoes for a day.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
You seriously don’t want me to answer this question. Always a bad thing when tinfoil covered items get pushed to the back. *winks*

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
The next four books in The MacLomain Series- Next Generation including Vow of the Highlander (Book 2) coming this June. Wrath of the Highlander (Book 3) coming this autumn. Faith of the Highlander (Book 4) and Plight of the Highlander (Book 5) coming in early 2015.

While channeling Robin Hood’s “steal from the rich and give to the poor” attitude at a local politician’s house, ex-con Katie Logan witnesses a forced suicide. Dirty or not, supernatural or not, he didn’t deserve to die, especially not by his own hand. But with her record, stepping forward as a witness isn’t an option. On the run from the police and the murderer, she turns to The Bound Ones for help.

When a beautiful woman comes to The Bound Ones, half-angel assassin Cain is immediately drawn to her. But when she fingers him as the killer, he can come to only one conclusion. The twin he thought was dead is very much alive…and trying to send him a message. Unfortunately, that message is: “You’re next.”

It’s a race against time as Cain fights to save the woman he’s falling in love with before his brother Abel destroys them both.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
Angel Kin owes its life to my interest in sibling rivalries. I've always been curious about brother-versus-brother stories because there's a rawness to that kind of conflict. Brothers love each other, but they are also men with a ton of testosterone fueling them. Most men are taught to be dominant, which leads to big trouble when brothers can't back down from a fight without fearing they'll be considered weak.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I wrote Angel Kin in about four months. That includes getting my critique partners to take a look, and then making revisions before the manuscript went to my editors at Entangled Publishing.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Finding a fresh take on something familiar makes writing awesome. I like to challenge what's known and accepted by twisting and flipping it until I can bring a new angle. It's so challenging and that keeps writing exciting.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Hitting a word count. I struggle to write longer, but my brain refuses to just throw crap on the page. If my manuscript is supposed to be 85k words, I fight to get it to 75k. After ripping it apart, I end up around 65k. I hope I'll get better at writing longer without killing the pace as I develop as an author. I'm new to this.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I'd want to be actor Tom Hiddleston. I admire his energy and his appreciation for what he's accomplished so far in his career. He looks like he's having fun and he smiles so much that I wonder what makes him so happy. That's a man who is enjoying life.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Two bottles of some horrible beer that was purchased about two years ago. We had guests who brought a six-pack and they left them. I tried one of the three remaining bottles and nearly choked on how awful it was. I guess I should invite them back so they can drink that nasty crap.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
In August, Angel Lover is set for release. That's Kasdeja's story and he's decided to go undercover in the enemy organization. Of all my half-angel assassins, his supernatural power doesn't help much as a weapon against someone. Imagine going into the lion's den without any weapons. Apart from the Angel Assassins series, I'm working on a couple of projects I hope will find a home when I'm done.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
A dream, or perhaps it was a nightmare I had one night, about the zombie apocalypse and what New York City would look like after it all went down. I sat at my computer and started writing and it just started pouring out of me. At first I thought it would be a short story, but the plot kept thickening and a short story became a novel.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
About 1 year.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
Creative writing is an escape from my “day job” which is as a full-time practicing medical doctor. I feel like I am only using one small part of my brain for medicine. In order to exercise the other, more creative parts, I turn to writing.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
The way it devours my time. I can easily sit and write for many hours at a time. It’s very hard with a medical career and growing family. I don’t like to miss opportunities for QT with my wife and kids, so I feel very guilty when I get washed away in a writing frenzy. So I try to keep my writing mostly as a late-night business. But it doesn’t always work out that way.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I would have said Woody Allen because I admire his films so much. I think he is a great genius. As to the rumors of his personal life…who knows? But the whole thing creeps me out enough to NOT select him for this answer. I would love to be Stephen King for a day, just so I could get an idea of what goes on in his sick/immensely creative brain.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
I do believe there is an apple rotting in the back of one of the vegetable drawers.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Currently, I am writing a short story called, The Predictors. It is a tale about vampires in the not-to-distant future.

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I had just started going to law school at night, on top of my day job as a consultant and my teaching at Temple University. I needed to find every way I could to spend quality time with my kids. One thing I could always do was tell a bedtime story on the nights I was home. So Witchwood Park started out as something to entertain the kids. Then it became something I wanted to publish and share and my kids became the unwitting beta testers…

Q) How long did it take you to write?
I wrote a partial draft back in 2010. Some of that made it into the finished product. A Tale of Witchwood Park ended up being a concerted effort over about an eight to ten week stretch in early 2014. Later books in the series are going to take longer. But I knew out of the gates that I wanted the first book to be about the length of a “Jack and Annie” story, as I call Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House books.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
In general, seeing where it takes me. Once you get past the early ideas and your characters and story start taking shape, the different directions you can go are endless. Do you control them, or do they control you? I think it's a little of both. It can also be dangerous. One of the things that’s good about stepping away from your own stories for a night or a week is that when you come back to them, you can really see what paths in the story work – and others that you need to delete and make sure never, ever come back again.

Probably the most rewarding thing that has happened from my writing came about a month after A Tale of Witchwood Park was released. A 4th grade school teacher (one that I didn’t know, yet!) read the book with her English class. Not only did they love it, they drew their own pictures of the characters and scenes. When I heard about that and got to see the pictures, it really sunk in that I had done something worthwhile.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
It makes it very, very hard to go back to doing the other things you need to do to earn a living…

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Bob the Builder. He has this great attitude and he always gets it done. He always asks, “Can we do it?” But he never has time for the tough existential question, “Should we do it?” That’s the one that always screws me up. Bob, he doesn’t have time for that nonsense.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Maybe a lemon, a few weeks old at most. Nothing in my fridge lasts. Either the kids consume it or my wife throws it away. I do my share disposing of any pizza, red meat, and beer. Now 15 to 20 years ago, in any one of my post-college apartments, all bets would have been off…

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
A Knight of Witchwood Park releases in June 2014. It focuses on Jimmy and a minor character from the first book, who becomes Jimmy’s first girlfriend. The enigmatic Emily Spellmaker is also going to start playing a larger role in the series. We’ll learn what happened to her in book two. But I don’t even know who she really is yet, so that will have to wait until at least book three.

I’m committed to Witchwood Park through the five books for the first story arc. Whether there is anything more to Witchwood Park after that is going to depend on whether there is an audience demand.

Thanks for your time. If anybody wants to find me, try facebook.com/swdevelin…

Gemini Rising Ethereal Fury by Jessica OGorek‏

I grew up admiring my father, Barry Weinstock, as an author. He took me around the country to different places so he could research and write his Wilderness Survival books. One of his greatest works, “The Path of Power,” was written with a great medicine man, Sunbear.

When I was twelve I started hand writing novels. My first one was two thousand pages. My dad always encouraged me and would rave about my writing. He gave me the confidence I needed to keep writing and follow my dream. My daughter, who is twelve, is currently working on her first novel. I hope to continue the legacy.

1. Was there one book that inspired you to write? What book was it and who is the author? What made it stick with you?
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The series stuck with me because I absolutely love Edward and because of Bella’s transition from girl to vampire. I watched the first movie then read the series and just couldn’t get enough of it. The funny thing is, Meyer really isn’t a stunning writer, not compared to James Patterson or King, but she still sucked me into the story and had me reeling with Edward’s innocent sweetness. He was a killer but also a gentle soul. This concept fascinates me and has translated into Onyx, my main character.

2. What inspired you to write this book?
I wanted to take the YA genre and add some spice to it by inserting a deeper concept they can hopefully relate to. Instead of just a love triangle and some supernatural creatures, we have an earth element; one that I hope will instill in them the importance of protecting our planet.

3. What’s the first creative writing you did outside school or a class?
When I was 12, I hand wrote a 2000 page romance novel. But my passion was dark ad disturbing poetry. I love the way adults would read and then look at me like I was a poor tortured soul.

4. If you didn’t live where you live now, where would you live? Why?
Brazil. I love green, it’s my favorites color and I’ve always wanted to live in a tree house in the Amazon.

5. If your book were made into a TV show or movie, who would you want to play the main character(s)?
I would take Robert Pattinson’s face and paste it with The Rock’s body to make Onyx. He would have to be computerized anyway since he is made of smoke. Kristen Stewart would be Violette, and Slate would be the guy in Warm Bodies. (don’t know his name off the top of my head) I’ve always pictured Darius as Silvester Stalone and the bishop as Donald Sutherland.

6. Did you publish the first book you wrote? If not, how many books did you write before publishing your first?
Yes! This is the first novel I have ever completed and I was lucky enough to land a publisher.

7. What was your favorite book as a kid? What’s your favorite book now?
Charlie Brown’s Christmas. Twilight.

8. What’s the best piece of advice given to you?
The serenity prayer- “God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

9. Give us a hint about your current writing project.
I am on book four on the Gemini Rising series.

Hi Pembroke,

Thank you so much for interviewing me again and featuring Breaking the Bond, the second book in the Witches of Spring Hill series on your blog!

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
The first book in the series, After the Summerland, was inspired by a dream that I had several years ago, and although I always planned to write a series, I wasn’t sure what the next book would be about until I actually finished writing the first book. I wanted to expand on the Silvan’s journals in the first book and also on Chloe and Cian’s relationship. Since they had a connection right from the beginning, in Breaking the Bond I introduced someone that challenged their young love, which I think often happens in relationships at their age. The story evolved organically from there.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took me 2 months to write it and about a month editing.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
I love how the story evolves right in front of my eyes! Sometimes characters make their way into my writing that I didn’t even imagine until the moment I write them in. Kamila is one of those characters, and her story becomes integral to the storyline. She quickly became one of my favorites!

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Without a doubt, editing. I finally have an amazing editor that makes my prose sparkle (her words, not mine), but before her, I’d spend way too much time reading and rereading sentences.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
Last time I was on your blog I answered Oprah, so I’ll give you a different answer this time. I think it’d be amazing to be Kate Middleton for a day. I mean, she’s a duchess, one day a princess? Come on, do I have to give a reason? Okay, well, she’s loved by all, she has amazing style and grace, and she’s going to be a princess!

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Ha! I threw away the old wine from last time, so now the winner is a full bottle of mustard that expired in October 2013. I used it once!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
I just finished writing the fourth book in the series, Distracted by Fate. It will be available the beginning July!

Penelope's Ghost by Goldie Alexander

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
I spend a lot of time on the Mornington Peninsula on the south coast of Australia and love to feature it and have in a number of my novels; it has an interesting history. You have to read Penelope’s Ghost to get into the Peninsula’s yummy secrets.

Q) How long did it take you to write ‘Penelope’s Ghost’?
Approximately six months, perhaps a bit more. There is always a lot of rewriting in a novel. I tend to work on one first draft of one book while working on drafts of others then switch from one work to another.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
It takes me out of myself and when the writing flows smoothly, it is intoxicating.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
When I get stuck I think that is what every writer hopes won’t happen.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I wouldn’t mind being as famous as JB Rowling and knowing all my books will sell in the millions.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A leftover jar of chutney I made last year. It didn’t quite work.

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
Another Romance, also set on the Mornington Peninsula. Can’t say much more. But if readers are interested in my other work I currently have 2 young adult books about to appear: “That Stranger Next Door” set in 1954 at the time of the McCarthy investigations, and “In Hades”, a verse novel.

Available at Amazon and Smashwords

Q) What inspired you to write this story?
The initial aspect of the story involved two men in a car driving through FL trading scary stories, but since it was too close to the Twilight Zone’s movie plot, I changed the story entirely and the scary story exchange became one-chapter.

Q) How long did it take you to write?
It took me over a year to write the story, but once I begin to write it, I would say it was six months of solid writing and two of editing by me and an editor.

Q) What is your favorite thing about writing?
That’s an interesting question. I enjoy writing conflict and the dialogue during that conflict.

Q) What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Sex scenes. Not a fan of those.

Q) If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
I probably would be Hemingway and for all the wrong reasons.

Q) What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
FL Strawberries just got legs!

Q) What can readers expect from you in the future?
More horror, more sci/fi and maybe a thriller or two. But for the most part, this year I plan on writing more short stories and putting them out as a compilation later in the year.

A young lady has to learn how to function on a college campus without the guidance of her parents while dealing with reincarnation. How will she fight and win the battle against the aggressive soul of an ancient Egyptian princess who is determined to RETURN.

Available at Amazon

Q - What inspired you to write this story?
A – Since childhood, I have been sensitive to the unseen forces around us; I’ve felt and seen entities not of this world. I believe in a higher power that I choose to call: God, but the question of where we go after our lives end on this side is left up to individual belief systems. Last year I met an astrologer on a small Southern Island. She bought and read my books, The Legacy of Sadie Mae Stevens and Blood Melt. Through her fuel, a fire I already had in researching the subject of reincarnation ignited.

Q – How long did it take you to write Egyptian Moon – Return?
A – My first draft was completed in about three months. No respectable budding author releases a first draft. Overall it took six months to flesh out book 1, and find my way around the plot to formulate books 2 and 3. My release plan for Egyptian Moon – Return was the Women’s Empowerment Event 2014-Raleigh, NC. To pull this off, it took an outstanding editor, two beta readers, and many all-nighters. Booyah!

Q – What is your favorite thing about writing?
A – Writing has always been my place of peace. As a child I made up tales about being a fairy Princess, dressed in tattered clothes but underneath I was royalty. I am able to escape to worlds unknown and fuel my imagination with unlimited possibilities. My characters are developed in my mind. They become real long before I write about them. Talking to yourself is not always a bad thing. J

Q – What is your least favorite thing about writing?
A – It’s the shifting of gears from “Life” so that I can spend time with my creativity. Also, although I love discovering new information and expanding my vocabulary, it can be intrusive when I’m hot on an idea and then have to pull back to research a particular subject as truth and accuracy must be a part of fiction to make it real.

Q – If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
A – I would like to be Shonda Rhimes, the writer of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Although we do not write in the same genre, her ability to spin a never ending, compelling drama is phenomenal.

Q – What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
A – Let’s see, the oldest thing in my fridge is a five year old jar of pickled jalapeno peppers. My husband and kids won’t let me throw them out. If you eat them, it’ll probably make flames shoot from your ears and nose and maybe somewhere else… J

Q – What can readers expect from you in the future?
A – I am on a never ending journey into the worlds of sci-fi / fantasy and all things paranormal. I write in several genres (Children, Teens/Young Adult, and New adult). This year, I plan to release the sequels to Sadie Mae Stevens, and Egyptian Moon. I’m also working on short stories that I will be rolling out continuously throughout the year. Most will be FREE to subscribers to my blog and inexpensive if purchased on Amazon. The two shorts story series that I’m presently working on are: Ghost Stories Unlimited and Monster Mates.
