I read an article in a popular magazine about how to meet the perfect man, and I started to contemplate what that miracle would be like. If such a paragon exists—a truly perfect man—wouldn’t he be looking for a perfect woman? And if a normal woman dated him, would she feel confident in their relationship, or insecure that she might never measure up?

Because it’s a short story, I wrote it in about two weeks and spent roughly a month editing, re-reading, editing, re-reading…bugging my friends to read my revisions, making suggested changes, begging my friends to read my re-writes until they told me to stop the madness and publish the darn thing.

I love the whole creative process from conceptualizing the story, to developing the characters, and watching my ideas unfold word by word and page by page. My heroines adventures become my adventures and through my alter ego I can overcome crisis, dodge bullets, race up mountain tops to save the fate of the world, all the while flirting with some totally hot guy that has eyes only for me. What a life!

Editing. As a writer, I’m convinced that every scene I write is necessary to the story, every sentence structure is perfect, the plot is ALWAYS tight and flows with seamless precision from page to glorious page. Then my writer’s group—whose opinions I value and are invaluable to me—bring me back to earth with a gentle hand and help me polish my story for real.

I would be Oprah Winfrey. What isn’t there to love about Oprah’s life? She is smart, successful, kind, not to mention rich and powerful. What I admire most about Oprah is her ability to move people on a grand scale and to do it with enthusiasm and compassion.

A jar of green olives that expires on 10-2014. My refrigerator decided to take a vacation on the 4th of July. Everything had to be tossed except for some random condiment jars.

What’s Wrong with Mr. Perfect? is the first of three stories that will make up the Magically Perfect Series. In the second novella, Perfectly Jinxed, Beth, Ivy’s sassy sidekick, is back in her own romance. When Ivy passes on the magical necklace to her friend, Beth isn’t interested. Even if she believed in such nonsense, the last thing she needs in her life is a man to complicate things, especially Ivy’s brother, Luca. But fate has another plan. Beth and Luca argue and she inadvertently breaks the necklace at the same instant she bets him that she won’t get ten feet out the door before he is begging her to come back. Little does she realize that her wish would come true. Bound together by invisible strings, they must work together to break the jinx until the magic that binds them also sets them free.
